San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers

LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — In a wild opening inning that saw seven runs cross the plate, the Los Angeles Dodgers weathered an early five-run storm from the San Francisco Giants and mounted a steady comeback to secure a 7-5 victory on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium.

A crowd of 53,251 watched as the Giants (76-79) ambushed Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow in the first inning, sending 10 men to the plate and scoring five runs. The rally was capped by a three-run double from designated hitter Bryce Eldridge. But the Dodgers (88-67) answered immediately in the bottom half, as Max Muncy launched a two-run homer off Giants starter Kai-Wei Teng to cut the deficit to 5-2.

The Dodgers chipped away at the lead, with Michael Conforto hitting a solo home run in the fourth inning. Freddie Freeman followed later in the frame with an RBI single that scored Shohei Ohtani, making it 5-4. Tommy Edman then tied the game in the fifth with a solo shot to left field.

Los Angeles took the lead for good in the sixth. Ohtani smashed his major league-leading 53rd home run to break the tie. Mookie Betts followed with a double and later scored on a single by Teoscar Hernández, providing critical insurance runs.

San Francisco’s final run came in the seventh on a solo home run by Rafael Devers. The Giants threatened with two walks in the inning, but reliever Anthony Banda escaped the jam. Dodgers closer Jack Dreyer worked a perfect ninth inning to record his fourth save of the season.

Glasnow (4-3) battled through five innings to earn the win, allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out seven. Joel Peguero (3-1), who allowed the go-ahead home run to Ohtani, was charged with the loss. Key relief performances came from the Dodgers’ Will Klein, who struck out the side in his one inning of work, and the Giants’ JT Brubaker, who provided 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts.

The game, which lasted 2 hours and 59 minutes, finished with a total of 12 runs, going under the betting over/under line of 8.5. The victory gave the Dodgers their third straight win in the four-game series, which concludes Sunday.
