San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to continue their recent dominance over their longtime rivals when they host the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers (86-67) have won four of the last five meetings between the National League West foes, including a 2-1 victory on Thursday and a 10-2 rout last Sunday. The series opened with a scoreless tie on Friday. Los Angeles holds a 7-4 advantage in the season series.
Sitting 10 games over .500, the Dodgers are firmly in the playoff picture. The Giants (76-77), meanwhile, are fighting to reach .500 and saw their already slim postseason hopes further diminished with the recent losses.
The Dodgers’ pitching has stifled the Giants’ offense. In Thursday’s win, Yoshinobu Yamamoto was stellar, allowing just one hit and no earned runs over 5 1/3 innings while striking out seven. Relievers Alex Vesia and Anthony Banda closed the door with two perfect innings.
San Francisco’s Logan Webb was nearly as good in that contest, tossing seven innings and allowing one earned run on four hits, but took the hard-luck loss as the Giants’ bats mustered only three hits total.
According to a projection by Interstat, the Dodgers’ offensive momentum is expected to continue. The game simulator predicts a 7-4 victory for Los Angeles.
Following this contest, the two teams will meet for the series finale on Sunday. The Dodgers then head to Arizona for a three-game set with the Diamondbacks, while the Giants return home to begin a series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
