Eastern Florida State vs Miami Dade

MIAMI (Interstat) — In a game defined by blistering offensive efficiency and a frantic final sequence, the Eastern Florida State Titans edged the Miami Dade Sharks 87-86 in a men’s junior college basketball thriller on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

The contest, a rematch of a Miami Dade victory just one month prior, was a statistical anomaly. Despite committing 18 turnovers to the Sharks’ seven and recording only six assists, the Titans prevailed by shooting a scorching 67.9 percent from the field. Miami Dade, by contrast, shot 50.8 percent and won several hustle categories but connected on just 4 of 20 attempts from three-point range.

The most important part of the game unfolded in the final 20 seconds. With Eastern Florida State clinging to an 87-86 lead after Miami Dade’s Leeroy Nijean sank two free throws, the Sharks had a chance to win. Following a Miami Dade timeout with five seconds remaining, the inbounds play went to Anthony Breland, who had tormented the Titans all night. Under pressure, Breland committed a critical turnover, allowing Eastern Florida State to run out the clock and secure the road victory.

Sean Register Jr. led the Titans with 27 points, eight rebounds and five assists, continuing a run of dominant performances. He was supported by Joviel Acevedo-Arroyo with 18 points and Misael Cruz Rodriguez, who added 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists. For Miami Dade, Anthony Breland scored a game-high 25 points, while Leeroy Nijean posted 19 points and nine rebounds. David Verstraeten contributed 15 points and five rebounds.

The first half was an offensive showcase, with Eastern Florida State taking a narrow 47-43 lead into the break. The Titans maintained their hot shooting throughout the second half, but Miami Dade stayed within striking distance by capitalizing on turnovers and converting at the free-throw line, where they made 16 of 19 attempts.

The victory improved Eastern Florida State’s overall record to 14-6, while Miami Dade fell to 6-8. According to Interstat’s ELO system, the Titans entered the game with a 55.7 percent probability to win.

Eastern Florida State will next host Santa Fe on Wednesday, February 11. Miami Dade is scheduled to host Indian River State on the same date.
