Shane Brinham Throws No-Hitter as Michigan Shuts Out Ohio State

OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — Shane Brinham pitched a complete-game no-hitter, leading Michigan to a 3-0 victory over Ohio State on Thursday at Sapp Fieldhouse.

The Wolverines junior struck out 11 and walked none in nine innings, facing just three batters over the minimum. The Michigan offense managed only two hits but made them count. Catcher Noah Miller drove in all three runs, singling up the middle for two runs in the third inning and adding an RBI single through the right side in the eighth.

Ohio State starter Gavin Kuzniewski allowed one hit and two earned runs while striking out six over 7 2/3 innings. Ryan Zamora struck out four in 1 1/3 innings of relief. The Buckeyes had five hits but could not score. Maddix Simpson went 2 for 4, and Miles Vandenheuvel singled, but the rest of the lineup combined for one hit.

Michigan improved to 34-23, while Ohio State fell to 30-25. The Wolverines had lost the previous three meetings against the Buckeyes and dropped four of their last five games before the win.
