Michigan vs. Ohio State
OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — Michigan and Ohio State meet Thursday at Sapp Fieldhouse, with the Wolverines seeking to reverse a three-game losing streak against the Buckeyes in a pivotal late-season matchup.
Michigan (33-23) faces Ohio State (30-24) at the neutral-site venue in Omaha. The game is set for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
The Buckeyes swept a three-game series at Michigan last week, outscoring the Wolverines 28-6 from May 14-16. Ohio State won the most recent meeting 8-1 on May 16.
Ohio State enters on a two-game win streak after a 3-2 victory over Rutgers on Wednesday. Pierce Herrenbruck threw a complete game in that win, allowing one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts over nine innings. Herrenbruck also beat Michigan on May 14, tossing six innings of two-run ball with four strikeouts. In his last four starts, the right-hander has a 2.33 ERA over 27 innings, with wins over Michigan State and Nebraska.
Michigan dropped its last outing 7-1 to Washington on Wednesday. The Wolverines have lost four of their last five games overall.
Michigan’s Michael Quedens has been used primarily in relief. He threw a scoreless inning against Washington on Wednesday, but struggled earlier this season against Ohio State, allowing four earned runs in one inning May 16. Quedens’ best recent outing came May 10 at Minnesota, where he threw 6.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Over his last seven appearances, he has a 7.71 ERA across 11 innings.
Ohio State has won three straight against Michigan dating to last week. The Buckeyes scored 13 runs in the series opener May 14 and seven in a May 15 victory. Michigan’s last win against Ohio State came in 2025.
The game marks the 10th all-time meeting between the programs at Sapp Fieldhouse. The venue, known for its pitcher-friendly dimensions, could favor both Herrenbruck and a Michigan bullpen that has allowed 20 earned runs over its last four games.
