Monmouth Rallies With Four Runs in Eighth Inning to Edge Seton Hall in Wild Finish

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (Interstat) — The Monmouth Hawks scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to erase a four-run deficit and defeat the Seton Hall Pirates 6-5 on Wednesday afternoon at Monmouth Baseball Field.

Seton Hall built a 5-1 lead with a three-run fourth inning, capitalizing on a Monmouth error to score all runs unearned. Monmouth starter Nick Tamburro was sharp in a no-decision, allowing four hits and zero earned runs over five innings.

The comeback began with Nick Lovarco’s second solo home run of the game. Aidan Bretschneider then tripled home a run before scoring the tying run on Colin Richter’s single. Will Fahey delivered the go-ahead RBI single later in the frame.

Monmouth improved to 23-16 overall. Seton Hall fell to 11-21.
