RALEIGH, N.C. (Interstat) — Joey Morton drove in four runs, including a three-run homer, as Campbell defeated North Carolina State 7-2 on Tuesday night at Doak Field.

Morton’s sixth-inning blast to deep right field broke open a tight game, part of a 2-for-5 performance. Mike Murphy added a two-run double in the seventh for the Fightin’ Camels (15-9), who tallied eight hits.

Five Campbell pitchers combined on a four-hit effort. Owen Simmons, Connor Hensley, Jett Music, Zach Sabers and Beau Brailey did not allow a hit over the final 8 2/3 innings after Luke Hemric took the loss for NC State (18-7). Chris McHugh had two of the Wolfpack’s four hits and an RBI.

The win came despite Interstat’s ELO system giving the Wolfpack a 68.9% probability to win.
