Fordham vs. Saint Louis
GLEN ALLEN, Va. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to salvage difficult seasons will meet when the Fordham Rams and Saint Louis Billikens open play in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship on Wednesday.
The seed Rams (10-19) and seed Billikens (11-20) will face off in a first-round game at 2 p.m. EDT. The winner advances to face seed Dayton on Thursday.
Both teams limp into the conference tournament, each having lost six of their last seven games. Their most recent meeting, however, provides a blueprint for what could be another low-scoring, defensive struggle. Fordham edged Saint Louis 42-39 on Feb. 11 in St. Louis.
A key player for Fordham is guard Carryn Easley, who scored 11 points in that victory. She is averaging 8.4 points over her last seven games. The Rams have struggled offensively during their skid, failing to reach 60 points in any of their last six contests.
Saint Louis will counter with forward Alyssa Koerkenmeier, who dominated the February matchup despite the loss, recording 16 points and 15 rebounds. She has been a consistent force, posting four double-doubles in her last six games and blocking five shots in a 22-point effort against Davidson on Feb. 28.
The season series is split 1-1. Saint Louis won the first meeting 67-57 in overtime on Jan. 21 in New York, powered by a 21-point, 18-rebound performance from Koerkenmeier.
In their regular season finales, Fordham fell 77-69 at Saint Bonaventure behind 18 points from Alexis Black, while Saint Louis lost 74-62 at Davidson despite Koerkenmeier’s 22 points.
With nearly identical disappointing records, Wednesday’s game offers a final chance for either squad to build momentum and extend its season beyond the conference tournament’s opening day.
