BUCKNELL, LAFAYETTE MEET IN PATRIOT LEAGUE REMATCH
LEWISBURG, Pa. (Interstat) — The Bucknell Bison will look to avenge a loss from two weeks ago when they visit the Lafayette Leopards in a Patriot League women’s basketball matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026.
Lafayette (7-12, 3-5 Patriot) defeated Bucknell (5-13, 1-7) 62-49 in Lewisburg on Jan. 14. In that game, Leopards forward Maddison Krug dominated the interior with 18 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Krug remains a focal point for Lafayette, averaging a double-double in her last five contests. She is coming off an eight-rebound, two-block performance in a 62-48 loss at Lehigh on Saturday.
Bucknell, meanwhile, snapped a six-game losing streak with a 54-45 home victory over Loyola Maryland on Jan. 24. Guard Elena Houghton orchestrated the win with eight assists, eight rebounds and three blocks.
Houghton will be a key player to watch for the Bison. Over her last seven games, she has averaged 5.1 assists and 2.1 blocks, providing steady playmaking and defense despite the team’s struggles.
The Bison hope to carry the momentum from their first league win, which saw Isabella Casey score 13 points and Reese Zemitis add 15. Containing Krug on the glass will be critical; Bucknell was outrebounded 45-33 in the first meeting.
Lafayette has lost three straight since its win over Bucknell but has shown resilience at home in conference play, including a 63-52 victory over Loyola Maryland on Jan. 3.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST at the Kirby Sports Center in Easton, Pennsylvania. The game continues a tight series, with both teams seeking to improve their positioning in the Patriot League standings ahead of the final month of the regular season.
