Drake at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. (Interstat) — The Bradley Braves will look to sweep the season series and continue their climb in the Missouri Valley Conference standings when they host the Drake Bulldogs in a women’s basketball matchup Thursday night at Carver Arena.

Bradley (13-7) enters with momentum, having won five of its last six games, including a 73-63 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Sunday. The Braves previously defeated Drake (6-13) 71-64 on the road on Jan. 16. Kaylen Nelson, a key player for Bradley, scored 15 points in that win and is averaging 18.9 points over her last seven contests. She is coming off a 17-point, six-rebound performance.

Drake seeks to halt a two-game skid and avenge its earlier loss to Bradley. The Bulldogs are coming off a heartbreaking 89-88 home loss to Murray State on Sunday, a game in which they surrendered a late lead. Guard Abbie Aalsma has been a bright spot, scoring 24 points in each of her last two outings and averaging 21.4 points over her last five games. She was held to just five points in the first meeting with Bradley.

The Braves have found success with a balanced attack, as evidenced by Maya Foz’s 21-point effort alongside Nelson in the win over UIC. Drake, meanwhile, has shown offensive firepower but struggled with consistency, as its 6-13 record indicates.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CST. Following this game, Bradley will travel to face Illinois State on Sunday, while Drake will host Northern Iowa on Feb. 1.
