Grambling at Louisiana-Monroe

MONROE, La. (Interstat) — The Grambling Lady Tigers will look to carry the momentum from a record-setting win into a road test against the undefeated Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on Tuesday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Grambling (1-2) is coming off a dominant 93-45 victory over Ouachita Baptist on Sunday, where Claire Simmons and Shaniah Nunn both recorded double-doubles. Simmons posted 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Nunn added 13 points and 13 boards. The performance was a stark contrast to the Lady Tigers’ first two games, lopsided road losses to North Texas and SMU.

They now face a Louisiana-Monroe (2-0) squad that has opened its season with solid home wins over Eastern Michigan and Louisiana Tech. In the 70-62 victory over Louisiana Tech, Kamille Brown led the Warhawks with 16 points, supported by J’Mani Ingram and Asjah Inniss, who each scored 12 points.

The game pits Grambling’s potent, albeit inconsistent, offense against a Warhawks team that has shown an ability to grind out victories. The Lady Tigers will need a complete effort to challenge a Louisiana-Monroe team aiming to protect its perfect record on its home court.
