Connecticut at Xavier
CINCINNATI (Interstat) — The undefeated and No. 1-ranked Connecticut Huskies put their perfect record on the line Sunday when they visit the Xavier Musketeers in a Big East women’s basketball matchup at Cintas Center.
UConn (6-0) has been dominant to start the season, winning its games by an average margin of 31 points. The Huskies are coming off a commanding 93-41 victory over Utah last Sunday. Azzi Fudd led the way with 24 points and eight rebounds, while Blanca Quinonez added 21 points and Sarah Strong chipped in 15 points.
Xavier (4-2) has been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over its past four games. The Musketeers are looking to build momentum after a 64-57 road win at Akron on Monday, where MacKenzie Givens scored 21 points.
The Huskies have showcased a high-powered offense, scoring over 90 points in three of their six wins. Xavier’s defense, which has held three opponents under 62 points, will face its toughest test of the young season.
This game opens the conference schedule for both teams. UConn will travel to face South Florida in its next game on Tuesday, while Xavier will host Providence next Thursday.
