Fordham at Saint Bonaventure

Preview: Fordham Rams at Saint Bonaventure Bonnies

KNAPP CREEK, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Saint Bonaventure Bonnies will look to solidify their position in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings and secure a winning season when they host the Fordham Rams in a women’s basketball matchup Saturday at Reilly Center.

The Bonnies (15-14, 8-8 A-10) enter the regular-season finale seeking to halt a two-game skid, including a 61-47 loss at George Washington on Wednesday. Saint Bonaventure, which has won three of its last six, is led by guard Elyse MacDonough. She scored 10 points in the loss to the Colonials and has been a consistent contributor, averaging 7.1 points over her last seven games.

Fordham (10-18, 5-11) aims to play spoiler and build momentum heading into the conference tournament. The Rams have lost five of their last six, most recently falling 58-49 to Davidson on Wednesday. Forward Ornella Niankan led Fordham in that contest with 10 points and two blocks. She will be a key factor as the Rams seek to sweep the season series.

In their first meeting on Jan. 18 in the Bronx, Fordham defeated Saint Bonaventure 66-53. The Rams used a balanced attack and held the Bonnies to 32.8% shooting from the field in that victory.

For Saint Bonaventure, a victory would guarantee a finish at .500 or better overall and could improve its seeding for the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship. The Bonnies have shown resilience at home this season, including an overtime win over Duquesne on Feb. 7.

Fordham, meanwhile, will rely on its defense, which ranks near the top of the conference in several categories, to counteract the Bonnies’ home-court advantage. The Rams have held opponents to an average of 60.1 points per game in A-10 play.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
