SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The UC San Diego women’s basketball team used a massive third-quarter surge to defeat Denver 72-54 on Friday night at RIMAC Arena. The Tritons outscored the Pioneers 31-16 in the period to break open a close game. Sabrina Ma led UC San Diego with 19 points, while Denver’s Coryn Watts scored a team-high 15. The Tritons improved to 1-1 on the season, while the Pioneers fell to 0-2. An announced crowd of 1,292 watched the nonconference matchup.
