East Tennessee State at Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Memphis Tigers and East Tennessee State Lady Buccaneers, both seeking to climb above .500, will face off in a non-conference women’s basketball game Saturday at FedExForum.

Memphis (2-3) looks to rebound from a tough 73-64 overtime loss to Mississippi on Tuesday. The Tigers were led in that contest by Chaé Harris, who scored 24 points, and Daejah Richmond, who added 22 points. Prior to that, Memphis suffered a lopsided 83-59 defeat to Ball State.

East Tennessee State (1-3) enters with momentum after a dominant 69-31 victory over Claflin last Saturday. SaBreya Monsanto paced the Lady Buccaneers with 12 points and 5 rebounds in that win. Their season, however, includes a narrow 64-63 loss to Kennesaw State and a 97-47 defeat at the hands of Tennessee.

The game will be the first of a two-game homestand for Memphis before they travel to Canada for a multi-team event. East Tennessee State will head to Louisville, Kentucky, for a three-game event following Saturday’s contest.
