Denver Holds Off Cal State Fullerton in Defensive Struggle
DENVER (Interstat) — The Denver Pioneers edged the Cal State Fullerton Titans 60-55 in a nonconference women’s basketball game Sunday at Magness Arena. Coryn Watts led all scorers with 23 points for Denver, which used a strong second quarter to build a lead it would not relinquish. The Pioneers improved to 2-3, while the Titans fell to 1-3. Cristina Jones paced Cal State Fullerton with 19 points and six rebounds. Both teams struggled offensively, with Denver’s 7-of-22 shooting from three-point range providing a key difference. The Titans forced 24 turnovers but were unable to overcome a 31.7 percent shooting performance from the field.
