Cal State Fullerton at Denver

DENVER (Interstat) — Two teams seeking their first Division I win of the season will meet Sunday when the Cal State Fullerton Titans face the Denver Pioneers in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Magness Arena.

Cal State Fullerton (1-2) enters the contest with momentum from an 81-51 victory over Hope International on Wednesday. Cristina Jones led the Titans with 23 points and seven rebounds in that win, while Maddy Tauro added 11 points, six rebounds and two assists.

The Pioneers (0-3) are still searching for their first victory after a 64-57 loss at Loyola Marymount on Nov. 9. Coryn Watts scored 23 points in the defeat. Denver’s winless start also includes losses to UC San Diego and Air Force.

Both teams have struggled defensively in the early season. The Titans surrendered 84 points in a season-opening loss to Pepperdine, while the Pioneers have failed to score more than 57 points in any of their three contests.

Sunday’s game represents a final tune-up for both squads before challenging stretches. Cal State Fullerton will begin a two-game road trip at Sacramento State next Friday, while Denver’s next matchup is at UTEP on Nov. 29.

Tipoff is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Denver.
