Lindenwood at Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — The Lindenwood Lions, riding a three-game winning streak, will visit the struggling Omaha Mavericks in a non-conference women’s basketball game on Saturday at Baxter Arena.
Lindenwood (3-1) enters the contest with momentum following an 80-71 victory over Missouri-Kansas City on Monday. Brooke Coffey led the Lions with a near triple-double, scoring 24 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing eight assists. Mya Skoff added 17 points and Ellie Brueggemann contributed 10 points and six assists in the win.
The Lions’ only loss this season came on the road against a tough Baylor squad.
Conversely, Omaha (1-5) looks to snap a five-game skid. The Mavericks fell 82-73 to Cal State Bakersfield at home on Thursday despite a 23-point effort from Cora Olsen and 19 points from Sarai Estupiñan. Omaha’s lone victory was a dominant 88-47 home win over St. Mary on Nov. 6, but the team has since struggled, including a 100-35 road loss to Kansas State.
Saturday’s matchup pits Lindenwood’s high-powered offense against an Omaha team seeking to find its footing defensively. The game will be the final home contest for the Mavericks until Dec. 6. Lindenwood will continue its season with a trip to a tournament in Honolulu following the game.
