Furman at Vanderbilt
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Vanderbilt Commodores look to build on a season-opening win when they host the Furman Paladins in a nonconference women’s basketball game Monday at Memorial Gymnasium.
Vanderbilt (1-0) began its season with a 74-65 home victory over California on Nov. 3. Mikayla Blakes led the way, scoring 27 points in 40 minutes of action. Aiyana Mitchell added 12 points, three assists and three blocks.
Furman (1-1) is looking to rebound from a lopsided 91-45 road loss to Georgia on Thursday. In that contest, Raina McGowens paced the Paladins with eight points and seven rebounds. The loss followed a dominant 85-27 home win over North Greenville to open the season.
The game marks the first of a two-game homestand for Vanderbilt, which travels to face Austin Peay on Wednesday. Furman continues a challenging early road stretch before returning home to host Georgia State on Thursday.
