Navy at Colgate
HAMILTON, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Navy women’s basketball team, riding high in Patriot League play, visits struggling Colgate on Saturday in a conference rematch.
The Midshipmen (19-7) enter Cotterell Court having won eight of their last nine games, including a 54-51 victory at rival Army last Saturday. They dominated the first meeting with Colgate on Feb. 14, winning 66-38.
Colgate (6-20) seeks to end a five-game skid, with its last win coming on Jan. 31 against Lehigh. The Raiders are coming off a 58-49 loss at Loyola Maryland.
A key matchup will feature Navy’s dynamic guard Zanai Barnett-Gay against Colgate’s Ella Meabon. Barnett-Gay is averaging 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in her last seven contests. She posted a 22-point, 11-rebound, 5-assist performance in a win over American on Feb. 7.
Meabon has been a bright spot for the Raiders, averaging 13.9 points and 5.0 rebounds over the same stretch. She scored 25 points in an overtime loss to Boston University on Feb. 18 and recorded a double-double in the team’s last victory.
Navy’s recent success has been built on defense, holding opponents to an average of 52.1 points during their 8-1 run. Colgate has struggled offensively, failing to reach 50 points in four of its last six games.
The Midshipmen won the previous meeting this season behind a balanced effort where Barnett-Gay had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Colgate was held to a season-low 38 points in that contest.
Following this game, Navy will host Loyola Maryland on March 4, while Colgate will travel to face Lafayette the same day.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Cotterell Court.
