Oregon at Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. (Interstat) — A marquee nonconference clash between two undefeated powers will take place Sunday when the Oregon Ducks visit the Auburn Tigers in a women’s basketball showdown.
Both teams enter the contest at Auburn Arena with perfect 8-0 records, but they have built them in contrasting fashion. The Ducks have been dominant, winning every game by at least 17 points and boasting a high-powered offense that averages 79.4 points per game. They are coming off an 84-46 rout of Old Dominion on Thursday, led by 18 points from Astera Tuhina and a 15-point, 8-rebound performance from Ehis Etute.
The Tigers have relied on a stout defense to remain unbeaten, holding opponents to just 53.1 points per game. Auburn grinded out a 58-50 road win at California on Wednesday, with A’riel Jackson scoring a team-high 17 points.
This matchup pits Oregon’s explosive scoring against Auburn’s relentless defensive pressure. The Ducks have surpassed 80 points in five games this season, while the Tigers have not allowed an opponent to score 70.
The outcome will provide a significant resume boost for either team as they look ahead to conference play. For Oregon, it’s the start of a tough stretch that includes games against UCLA and Stanford. For Auburn, it’s a final high-profile test before opening Southeastern Conference action on Jan. 1 at Mississippi State.
