UC Davis at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. (Interstat) — The undefeated and No. 1-ranked Stanford Cardinal will put their perfect record on the line Thursday when they host the UC Davis Aggies in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (5-0) is coming off a tough 65-52 road victory over Gonzaga this past Sunday. Chloe Clardy led the Cardinal with 20 points, while Nunu Agara recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Cardinal defense has been stifling, holding opponents to an average of 51.6 points per game.

The UC Davis Aggies (3-1) arrive in Palo Alto looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, a 91-77 defeat at Boise State last Friday. Despite the loss, Avery Sussex had a standout performance, scoring 23 points to go with four rebounds and four assists. Ryann Bennett and Nya Epps each added 15 points in the contest.

The matchup pits Stanford’s elite defense against a UC Davis offense that averaged 78.3 points through its first three wins before the Boise State game. The Aggies will need another high-scoring night from Sussex to challenge the Cardinal on their home court.

Stanford’s next game is Sunday against Lehigh. UC Davis travels to face Sacramento State on Monday.
