NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — The Northeastern women’s basketball team secured its first victory of the season, defeating Yale 75-64 on Friday night at Payne Whitney Gymnasium.
The Huskies, now 1-1, controlled the game from the outset, building a significant early lead and weathering a second-quarter surge from the Bulldogs to seal the win. Yale begins its season 0-1.
Northeastern established dominance in the first quarter, outscoring Yale 21-13. The Huskies extended their lead in the third quarter with a 23-11 run that proved decisive after Yale had managed to cut into the deficit before halftime.

However, Northeastern’s defense held the Bulldogs to just 4-of-17 shooting from three-point range and capitalized on their own opportunities in the paint, outscoring Yale 40-38.
