SIU Edwardsville at Arkansas-Little Rock
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the final stretch of the season will meet Saturday when the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans host the SIU Edwardsville Cougars in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup at Jack Stephens Center.
The contest is a quick rematch of a defensive struggle from just one month ago. On Jan. 8 in Edwardsville, the Trojans (11-12) edged the Cougars (10-13) 48-45. Both teams have struggled since, with each looking to halt a losing streak. SIUE has dropped three straight, including an 82-69 defeat at Lindenwood on Tuesday. Arkansas-Little Rock is reeling from a 92-54 home loss to that same Lindenwood team on Thursday.
SIU Edwardsville will lean on guard Lauren Miller to spark its offense. Miller is coming off an 11-point, 4-assist performance in the loss to Lindenwood and has been a consistent contributor, scoring in double figures in four of her last seven games, including a 16-point effort in a win over Tennessee Tech on Jan. 24.
For the Trojans, forward Lidia Belmonte Hurtado provided a bright spot in the lopsided loss to Lindenwood, scoring 11 points in just 12 minutes off the bench. Her efficiency will be needed against a Cougars team familiar with close games; five of SIUE’s last seven contests have been decided by eight points or fewer.
Beyond the individual matchups, the game pits two teams with nearly identical records in search of a winning trajectory. The Cougars have found wins hard to come by on the road, while the Trojans will be desperate to defend their home court after Thursday’s heavy defeat.
The outcome could hinge on which team better controls the tempo and capitalizes on limited scoring opportunities, mirroring their low-scoring January encounter. Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.
