Iowa at Northern Iowa

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (Interstat) — The undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes (3-0) travel to face the struggling Northern Iowa Panthers (0-2) in a women’s nonconference basketball game Sunday at the McLeod Center.

Iowa enters the contest with significant momentum, having dominated its first three opponents by an average margin of 52 points. The Hawkeyes are coming off a 100-58 rout of Drake on Thursday, where Chazadi Wright led the way with 14 points and Hannah Stuelke added 11 points and five assists.

Conversely, Northern Iowa is seeking its first win after a pair of narrow losses. The Panthers fell 62-58 at Saint Louis last Sunday, a game in which Virginia Edmondson scored 13 points and Elise Jaeger pulled down 11 rebounds. They also dropped their season opener at home to North Dakota State, 63-49.

The matchup presents a stark contrast in early-season form. Iowa’s high-powered offense will test a Northern Iowa defense that has allowed an average of 62.5 points per game. The Hawkeyes will look to maintain their perfect record before heading to Orlando, Florida, for a challenging two-game stretch against Baylor and Miami (Fla.) next week.

For the Panthers, the game is a final home contest before a four-game road trip, which includes a visit to Creighton on Thursday.
