Seattle at L.A. Rams
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Rams held off a furious fourth-quarter rally by the Seattle Seahawks, surviving a last-second 61-yard field goal attempt to secure a 21-19 victory Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
A crowd of 75,323 watched as the Rams improved to 8-2, while the Seahawks fell to 7-3 in a pivotal NFC West showdown.
The game was defined by a dominant Rams defense that forced four turnovers, including three interceptions, to repeatedly stifle Seattle’s offense. Safety Kamren Kinchens led the charge with two interceptions, while cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Darious Williams each added one.
Los Angeles raced out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter, capitalizing on a short field after Kinchens’ first interception. Kyren Williams capped the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run. The Rams doubled their lead later in the quarter when Matthew Stafford connected with Davante Adams on a 1-yard scoring pass.
Seattle, unable to find the end zone in the first half, relied on the leg of kicker Jason Myers, who connected on field goals of 57, 30 and 22 yards to cut the deficit to 14-9 at halftime. The Seahawks added another Myers field goal, from 29 yards, in the third quarter to pull within 14-12.
The Rams appeared to seize control early in the fourth quarter when Stafford found tight end Colby Parkinson for a 6-yard touchdown, extending their lead to 21-12.
Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold then engineered a 13-play, 65-yard drive, culminating in a 1-yard touchdown run by Kenneth Walker III with 2:23 remaining. The score brought Seattle within two points, 21-19.
After forcing a Rams punt, the Seahawks got the ball back at their own 1-yard line with 1:41 left. Darnold methodically moved the offense down the field, converting a critical fourth-down play and benefiting from a 13-yard defensive pass interference penalty that placed the ball at the Los Angeles 49 with five seconds left.
With no timeouts and the clock ticking, Seattle sent Myers out for a potential game-winning 61-yard field goal. The kick had the distance but fell short, sealing the victory for the Rams.
Darnold finished 29 of 44 for 279 yards and added 11 rushing yards, but his three interceptions proved costly. Walker III was a bright spot for Seattle, rushing for 67 yards and a touchdown and catching three passes for 44 yards. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was Darnold’s primary target, hauling in nine receptions for 105 yards.
For the Rams, Stafford’s final line was efficient, completing 15 of 28 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Kyren Williams was the engine of the offense, rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries. Puka Nacua added seven receptions for 75 yards.
The Rams’ defense was the story, with Kinchens, Kam Curl and Nate Landman combining for 22 tackles to consistently disrupt Seattle’s rhythm. The win gives Los Angeles a one-game lead in the division heading into a Week 12 home game against Tampa Bay. Seattle will look to rebound on the road against the Tennessee Titans.
