CHICAGO (Interstat) — Jonny DeLuca launched a three-run homer in a four-run seventh inning, powering the Tampa Bay Rays to an 8-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The Rays built their lead steadily, scoring single runs in the third and sixth and two in the fifth. DeLuca’s blast off the left-center field wall broke the game open. Tampa Bay’s nine-hit attack supported winner Jesse Scholtens, who earned his first victory.

The White Sox, held to seven hits, avoided a shutout with three runs in the ninth, highlighted by Reese McGuire’s RBI single. Sean Burke took the loss for Chicago. Attendance was 10,193.
