Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox
Rain Threatens Series Finale Between Rays, White Sox
CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Tampa Bay Rays look to secure a series win against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field, though wet weather could complicate the AL matchup.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. CDT under a forecast of 80-degree temperatures and rain.
The Rays (8-7) took the series opener 4-3 on Tuesday. They will turn to right-hander Jesse Scholtens (0-0), who makes his first start of the 2026 season. He will be opposed by White Sox righty Sean Burke (0-1, 0.00 ERA in one relief appearance).
Tampa Bay enters having won three straight and four of its last five, including a weekend sweep of the New York Yankees. A player to watch is right-hander Drew Rasmussen, who dominated in a win Sunday, allowing one hit over six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.
The White Sox (6-10) aim to bounce back after snapping a five-game skid with a 6-5 win in Kansas City on Sunday. Shortstop Colson Montgomery, a key young piece for Chicago, homered and drove in two in that victory. He has shown sporadic power early but is batting just .214 over his last 10 games.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Rays are projected to win 5-4. Tampa Bay has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 8 runs.
Following the game, the Rays continue their road trip with a three-game set in Pittsburgh beginning Friday. The White Sox embark on a six-game West Coast trip, starting in on Friday.
Probable Pitchers: TB – Jesse Scholtens (0-0, 0.00 ERA); CWS – Sean Burke (0-1, 0.00 ERA).
Series Note: Tampa Bay leads the current series 1-0.
