Oakland Athletics at Pittsburgh Pirates
PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — The Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates will conclude a three-game series Sunday afternoon at PNC Park, with both clubs looking to end disappointing seasons on a positive note.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. EDT.
The series is tied after a pair of tight contests. The Athletics (73-82) evened the set with a 4-3 victory on Friday, but the Pirates (66-89) responded with a 2-0 shutout win on Saturday.
Oakland’s offense, which was blanked a day ago, will look to rebound in the finale. The Athletics had won six of eight prior to Saturday’s loss, a stretch that included a three-game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds and a series win in Boston.
Conversely, Pittsburgh’s Saturday victory provided a rare bright spot. The Pirates had lost 10 of their previous 12 games, including a four-game sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles and a three-game sweep by the Chicago Cubs earlier in the homestand.
Following the game, both teams will hit the road for their final series of the 2025 campaign. returns home to host the Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals for three games each. Pittsburgh embarks on two final road trips, first for three games against the Cincinnati Reds, followed by three against the Atlanta Braves.
A statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a lopsided end to the series, simulating a 7-1 victory for the visiting Athletics.
