Yankees Complete Sweep of White Sox, Remain Tied for AL East Lead
NEW YORK (Interstat) — Giancarlo Stanton delivered a decisive three-run double in the fifth inning, lifting the New York Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night. The win completed a three-game sweep and kept the Yankees tied with Toronto atop the AL East.
Michael A. Taylor’s two-run homer in the fourth had given Chicago a 3-1 lead before Stanton’s bases-clearing hit off Tyler Gilbert (4-2) put New York ahead for good. Yankees starter Carlos Rodón (18-9) earned the win, allowing three runs over six innings, and David Bednar secured his 26th save. The Yankees, who have won five straight, finished with eight hits before a crowd of 38,545 at Yankee Stadium.
