Chicago White Sox at New York Yankees

NEW YORK (Interstat) — The New York Yankees, clinging to postseason hopes, will look to complete a series sweep of the struggling Chicago White Sox when the teams conclude their four-game set Thursday at Yankee Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT, though the forecast calls for rain and a temperature of 72 degrees.

The Yankees (89-68) have taken the first three games of the series, including a 5-1 victory Wednesday, and have won six of their last seven. They enter the final weekend of the regular season needing wins to solidify their position in the American League wild-card race.

Conversely, the White Sox (58-99) have lost eight of their last 10 and are one defeat away from a 100-loss season. They have not won a series since early September.

New York will send right-hander Luis Gil to the mound. Gil (record not provided) is coming off a strong outing against these same White Sox on Tuesday, allowing two runs over six innings in a 3-2 Yankees victory.

Chicago will counter with right-hander Davis Martin (7-10), who faces a Yankees lineup that has averaged 6.4 runs over its last seven games.

According to Interstat, the Yankees are heavy favorites with a 72.5% probability to win. Their game simulator projects a 7-1 New York victory. The Yankees are installed as a -1.5 run favorite, with an over/under of 8.5 runs.

Following the series, the Yankees host the Baltimore Orioles for three games to close the season, while the White Sox travel to face the Washington Nationals.
