Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves
ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves will look to continue their recent dominance over the Washington Nationals when the National League East rivals meet again Tuesday night at Truist Park.
The Braves (74-83) have won five straight against the Nationals (64-93), including an 11-5 victory in the series opener Monday. Atlanta has outscored Washington 42-15 during the winning streak.
Right-hander Hurston Waldrep (5-1) is scheduled to start for Atlanta against Washington’s Brad Lord (5-8).
Waldrep has been a bright spot for the Braves in the second half, while Lord seeks to rebound from recent struggles. The pitching matchup favors the hosts, as do recent trends. Atlanta has won seven of its last 10 games overall, while Washington has lost eight of its last 12.
In Monday’s win, Michael Harris II went 3 for 5 with three RBIs for Atlanta. For Washington, shortstop Nasim Nuñez was 3 for 4 with a home run, and first baseman Andrés Chaparro drove in three runs.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 Braves victory, and its ELO system gives Atlanta a 64.7% chance to win. The Braves are installed as a -1.5 run favorite, with an over/under of 9 runs.
Following Tuesday’s contest, the two teams will conclude their three-game series Wednesday before closing the regular season with weekend sets against the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates, respectively.
