Cleveland Guardians at Minnesota Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — The Cleveland Guardians will look to complete a series sweep and continue their late-season push when they face the Minnesota Twins in the finale of a three-game set Sunday afternoon at Target Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. CDT.

The Guardians (83-71) have dominated the first two games of the series, winning 6-2 on Friday and 6-0 on Saturday. Cleveland has won four straight and 12 of its last 15 games to solidify its position in the playoff race.

Cleveland’s pitching has been stellar, with Saturday’s starter Slade Cecconi leading the way by throwing seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eight. Offensively, catcher Bo Naylor powered the win with two home runs.

The Twins (66-88), meanwhile, have struggled throughout the season and have lost six of their last 10 games. They were shut out for the 11th time this season on Saturday. Austin Martin provided a bright spot with two of the team’s four hits.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Guardians are projected to win 8-3. Cleveland is also a pregame betting favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 8.5 runs.

Historically, the season series has been tightly contested. While Cleveland has won the last three meetings, five of the last 12 games between the two American League Central foes have been decided by one run.

Following the game, the Guardians return home to open a series against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. The Twins hit the road for a six-game trip, starting with three against the Texas Rangers, also on Tuesday.
