Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds

CINCINNATI (Interstat) — Gavin Lux’s RBI double in the third inning provided the game’s only run as the Cincinnati Reds edged the Chicago Cubs 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Great American Ball Park for their fifth straight win.

The victory moved the surging Reds (80-76) into a tie with the New York Mets for the final National League wild-card spot. Jameson Taillon (10-7) took the hard-luck loss for the Cubs (88-68), allowing one run on five hits over seven innings. Nick Martinez (11-13) earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, and Tony Santillan recorded his seventh save. The game was delayed one hour and 11 minutes by rain.
