Holmes vs Mississippi Delta
Preview of Holmes at Mississippi Delta Men’s Basketball
MOORHEAD, Miss. (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Monday when the Holmes Bulldogs visit the Mississippi Delta Trojans in a men’s junior college basketball matchup.
Holmes (13-4) enters as one of the region’s stronger teams, while Mississippi Delta (1-9) seeks to halt a prolonged slump. The game is scheduled for Feb. 16, 2026.
The Bulldogs aim to rebound from a narrow 77-73 road loss at Mississippi Gulf Coast on Feb. 9. Prior to that, Holmes had won two of its last three, including a tight 70-69 victory over Hinds on Feb. 5. Their season highlights include a 95-85 win over Northwest Mississippi in January.
Mississippi Delta is mired in a difficult season, having lost nine straight games since a 109-92 win over Northwest Mississippi on Dec. 6, 2025. The Trojans are coming off an 83-66 home loss to Hinds on Saturday.
A player to watch for Holmes is Deriyon Graydon. The guard has seen fluctuating minutes but contributed 15 minutes, six points, six rebounds and two assists in a win over Pearl River on Jan. 22. His production will be a factor for the Bulldogs’ backcourt.
Mississippi Delta will lean on Courtland Sloan, who turned in a strong individual performance in the team’s Feb. 2 loss at Mississippi Gulf Coast. Sloan logged 28 minutes, scoring 18 points with five rebounds and two blocked shots.
Holmes won the previous meeting between the teams this season, 104-94, on Dec. 8, 2025, in Senatobia.
Following this contest, Holmes will host East Mississippi on Feb. 19. Mississippi Delta travels to face Itawamba on the same date.
