Gillette vs Indian Hills

Preview: Gillette Pronghorns at Indian Hills Warriors

OTTUMWA, Iowa (Interstat) — A surging Gillette College team will face its toughest test of the young season Thursday night when the Pronghorns visit the nationally ranked Indian Hills Warriors in a men’s junior college basketball showdown.

The Pronghorns (5-4) ride a four-game winning streak into the contest, most recently an 88-76 home victory over Williston State on Dec. 10. Their success has been fueled by guard Rashad McCormick, who is averaging 21.4 points over his last six games. McCormick scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win over Williston State.

Indian Hills (11-2), a perennial national powerhouse, aims to bounce back from a rare stumble, a 78-84 road loss to Mineral Area on Dec. 13. Prior to that, the Warriors had won seven straight, including dominant victories over McCook (95-62) and Lake Region State (125-67). Their lineup features forward Chiang Ring, who posted a 20-point, 8-rebound performance against McCook and a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double against Lincoln Trail in late November.

The matchup pits Gillette’s recent momentum against Indian Hills’ established pedigree and home-court advantage. The Warriors’ two losses this season have come by a combined nine points. Gillette, meanwhile, has found its rhythm after a 1-3 start, with its last three wins all coming on its home floor. This contest begins a challenging road stretch for the Pronghorns.

Indian Hills holds a significant edge in record and scoring margin, but the Pronghorns’ confidence is high. Containing McCormick’s offensive versatility will be a key focus for the Warriors’ defense, while Gillette must find a way to slow Indian Hills’ balanced and high-scoring attack.

Tip-off is set for Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Hellyer Center.
