BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — In a season-opening upset defying statistical projections, the Bakersfield College Renegades outlasted the Cerro Coso Coyotes 83-76 in a high-octane men’s junior college basketball game Saturday. The Renegades, who were given only a 28.6 percent chance to win by Interstat’s ELO system, used a dominant rebounding performance and capitalized on Cerro Coso’s ball-handling miscues to secure the victory.
