SNYDER, Texas (Interstat) — In a double-overtime men’s junior college basketball game Thursday, the Blinn Buccaneers defeated the Western Texas Westerners 92-89. The Buccaneers, who led by as many as 20 points after a 40-point second quarter, saw their lead evaporate as the Westerners mounted a comeback to force the extra periods. Blinn ultimately held on for the narrow victory in its season opener. Western Texas, which was projected as a heavy favorite to win, falls to 1-2 on the season. Key performances for the Westerners included Javonte Johnson, Zayier Dean, and Viktor Bystrom. Vejas Matekonis, Tyson Mobley, and Rollings Kamanda led the way for Blinn.
