Lawson Leads Harris-Stowe to Narrow Victory in High-Scoring Affair
ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — Umar Lawson scored 33 points and dished nine assists to lift the Harris-Stowe men’s basketball team to a 103-99 NAIA victory over UHSP on Thursday night. The Hornets, who improved to 2-12, held off a persistent UHSP squad that fell to 1-16 despite 31 points from Jasmin Suvalija and a 25-point, 13-rebound performance from Brennen Walker.
Both offenses were efficient in a fast-paced game. Harris-Stowe shot 55% from the floor, offsetting UHSP’s 13 made 3-pointers. Nashawn Davis added 30 points for the Hornets. The teams combined for only 18 assists against 32 turnovers in the contest, which saw Harris-Stowe maintain a slim lead throughout the second half after a first quarter that ended with UHSP ahead 51-47.
