PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The High Point Panthers edged the Wisconsin Badgers 83-82 in a men’s NCAA Tournament first-round game Thursday at Moda Center. High Point’s Chase Johnston hit a driving layup with 11 seconds remaining for the decisive score after Wisconsin’s Nick Boyd had given the Badgers their final lead moments earlier.

Boyd led all scorers with 27 points for Wisconsin, which led 41-39 at halftime. John Blackwell added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Badgers. High Point was led by Rob Martin’s 23 points and 10 assists, while Terry Anderson added 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Panthers improved to 31-4, while Wisconsin finished its season 24-11.
