Hampton vs. Towson
Preview: Hampton Looks to Split Season Series at Towson
WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Hampton Pirates and Towson Tigers will meet for the second time this season on Saturday at CareFirst Arena, with the Tigers seeking a regular-season sweep.
Towson (17-14) dominated the first matchup, routing Hampton 82-50 at home on Jan. 31. The Pirates (13-18), however, won the prior meeting, 63-62, on Dec. 31, 2025, suggesting the potential for a competitive Coastal Athletic Association clash.
The Tigers enter with momentum, having won three of their last four games. Their most recent victory was a 69-57 road win at Stony Brook on Tuesday, powered by a career-high 28 points from junior guard Dylan Williamson. Williamson has been a focal point, averaging 19.2 points over his last five contests.
Hampton aims to rebound from a 94-85 road loss at William & Mary on Tuesday. Despite the defeat, guard Daniel Johnson scored 23 points, continuing a strong stretch where he has averaged 15.4 points over his last seven games. Johnson and forward Josh Ogundele, who had 21 points against William & Mary, will be key to the Pirates’ offensive efforts.
Towson’s defense, which held Hampton to 50 points on 32.8% shooting in January, will test a Pirates squad that has lost five of its last seven. Hampton’s road record this season is 4-12.
The game tips off at 4 p.m. EST. Towson holds a slight historical edge, leading the all-time series 4-3 since Hampton joined the CAA. A win would secure a winning regular season for the Tigers, while the Pirates look to build confidence ahead of the conference tournament.
