Marist Outlasts Quinnipiac in Defensive Metro Atlantic Showdown

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Marist avenged an early-season loss by defeating Quinnipiac 71-64 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at McCann Recreation Center. The Red Foxes improved to 13-7, while the Bobcats fell to 14-8.

Marist’s efficient shooting proved decisive, as it shot 52.9% from the floor compared to Quinnipiac’s 37.1%. The Red Foxes were led by Justin Menard with 15 points and Elijah Lewis with 14 points and four assists. Jason Schofield added 12 points off the bench.

Quinnipiac’s Amarri Monroe recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Asim Jones scored a game-high 22 points. Despite forcing 12 turnovers and grabbing nine offensive rebounds, the Bobcats could not overcome their poor shooting. Marist, a 2.5-point pregame favorite, secured the victory despite being outscored at the free-throw line.
