BOBCATS, RED FOXES MEET IN MAAC REMATCH

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Quinnipiac Bobcats visit the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup with both teams looking to build momentum for the league’s second half.

The game tips off at 2 p.m. EST at McCann Recreation Center.

Quinnipiac (14-7, 5-3 MAAC) enters on a two-game winning streak, most recently a 77-62 road victory at Mount Saint Mary’s on Thursday. The Bobcats are led by guard Amarri Monroe, who scored 17 points in that win. Over his last five games, Monroe is averaging 15.2 points and 5.2 rebounds, including a 24-point effort in a loss at Merrimack on Jan. 17.

Marist (12-7, 4-4) seeks to rebound from a 69-50 loss at Siena on Thursday, a game where the Red Foxes shot just 32.7% from the field. Guard Jason Schofield, who had 11 points against Siena, has provided a scoring spark off the bench recently. He averaged 12.0 points over a three-game stretch from Jan. 9-17, including 15 points in a loss to Merrimack.

This is the second meeting between the teams this season. Quinnipiac won the first matchup 64-58 in Hamden, Connecticut, on Dec. 29. Monroe led the Bobcats with 14 points in that game, while Schofield had eight for Marist.

The Bobcats have shown balance, with Jaden Zimmerman adding 13 points and seven assists against Mount Saint Mary’s. Marist will need more from its offense after being held under 60 points in two of its last three contests.

Following this game, Quinnipiac hosts Sacred Heart on Jan. 30. Marist travels to face Canisius on the same date.
