Duncomb’s Career Day Powers Winthrop Past Presbyterian in Big South Clash
CLINTON, S.C. (Interstat) — Logan Duncomb scored a career-high 38 points Saturday to lead the Winthrop Eagles to an 82-72 men’s basketball victory over the Presbyterian Blue Hose at the Templeton Center.
The 6-foot-10 center dominated inside, fueling a decisive 40-30 advantage in points in the paint for the Eagles. Winthrop improved to 15-8 overall, while Presbyterian fell to .500 at 11-11.
Duncomb’s efficiency anchored a Winthrop offense that overcame poor three-point shooting by forcing 14 turnovers and converting them into 13 points. Carl Parrish led the Blue Hose with 18 points, but Presbyterian managed only two assists as a team.
Winthrop, which covered as a 6.5-point favorite, never trailed after Duncomb’s opening hook shot and maintained control throughout the Big South Conference contest.
