New Mexico State at Delaware

Preview: New Mexico State Aggies at Delaware Blue Hens

NEWARK, Del. (Interstat) — The New Mexico State Aggies look to get back to .500 in Conference USA play when they visit the struggling Delaware Blue Hens on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Aggies (9-7 overall) enter on a two-game skid, including a narrow 73-71 road loss at Liberty on Thursday. Anthony Wrzeszcz led New Mexico State with 16 points in that defeat, continuing a stretch of varied offensive production. The guard has averaged 9.4 points over his last seven games, with a high of 16 against Liberty.

Delaware (5-12) seeks to end a pattern of close losses, most recently falling 70-68 in overtime at Louisiana Tech on Jan. 10. The Blue Hens have dropped four of their last five, with three of those losses by seven points or fewer.

The matchup features a key battle in the backcourt. New Mexico State’s Wrzeszcz will be countered by Delaware’s workhorse, Christian Bliss. The Blue Hens’ guard has been a statistical leader, averaging 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists over his last five contests. He logged 45 minutes in the overtime loss to Louisiana Tech, finishing with 14 points, nine assists and six rebounds.

New Mexico State holds a clear advantage in season record but has struggled on the road, going 1-5 in true away games. Delaware is 4-4 at home this season. The Aggies won the only prior meeting between the programs last season.

This contest is the first of a home-and-home series in Conference USA play, with the rematch scheduled for Jan. 28 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon. The Aggies’ next game is at home against Missouri State on Jan. 22. Delaware continues its conference slate at Liberty on Jan. 24.
