Indiana State at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. (Interstat) — In a commanding display of offensive firepower and defensive dominance, the Duke Blue Devils overwhelmed the Indiana State Sycamores 100-62 in a non-conference men’s basketball game Friday night at a sold-out Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Blue Devils, who improved to 4-0, never trailed, establishing control early and maintaining a relentless pace that the Sycamores could not match. Duke built a commanding 51-32 lead by halftime and continued to extend its advantage in the second half, cruising to a decisive 38-point victory.

Duke’s attack was brutally efficient, converting at a 53.5 percent clip from the field while holding Indiana State to just 36.1 percent shooting. The Blue Devils’ offensive rating of 129.9 dwarfed the Sycamores’ mark of 79.4, illustrating the vast chasm in execution between the two teams.

The disparity was most evident in the paint, where Duke outscored Indiana State 54-26, and in transition, where the Blue Devils racked up 27 fastbreak points to the Sycamores’ nine. Duke also capitalized on Indiana State’s mistakes, scoring 26 points off 18 Sycamores turnovers.

Sophomore forward Cameron Boozer was the engine for Duke, delivering a powerhouse performance with 35 points and 12 rebounds. He was a constant force inside, adding five assists and three blocks while shooting an efficient 14-of-19 from the field. His presence set the tone for a Duke frontcourt that controlled the glass, out-rebounding Indiana State 46-31 and grabbing 16 offensive boards.

The Blue Devils’ supporting cast was deep and effective. Caleb Foster contributed 14 points, while Dame Sarr added 10. The interior defense was anchored by Patrick Ngongba, who tallied nine points, eight rebounds, and four blocks. Nikolas Khamenia filled the stat sheet with nine points, six rebounds, and five assists.

For Indiana State, which fell to 2-2, the offensive struggles were widespread. Sterling Young led the team with 14 points, and Ian Scott added 13. Camp Wagner chipped in 11 points and five rebounds, but the Sycamores’ primary ball-handlers were harassed into 18 turnovers by Duke’s active defense, which also registered 13 steals and 13 blocks as a team.

The game was effectively decided in the first 10 minutes as Duke’s size, speed, and shooting proved insurmountable. The Blue Devils opened the game on a 22-7 run and never saw their lead dip below double digits, methodically pulling away as the contest progressed.

The victory sets up a marquee early-season showdown for Duke, which will face Kansas on Tuesday in New York as part of the Champions Classic. Indiana State looks to rebound when it returns home to face Louisiana Tech on Wednesday.
