Oakland at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Purdue Boilermakers look to build on a dominant opening win when they host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in a non-conference men’s basketball game Friday at Mackey Arena.

Purdue (1-0) cruised to an 82-51 victory over Evansville on Tuesday, powered by a 30-point performance from guard Fletcher Loyer. Center Oscar Cluff nearly recorded a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

Oakland (0-1) is seeking its first win after a 121-78 road loss to Michigan on Monday. The Golden Grizzlies’ offense was led by Isaac Garrett, who scored 20 points, and Tuburu Naivalurua, who added 18 points and five rebounds.

The matchup presents a stark contrast in early-season momentum. The Boilermakers showcased a balanced attack and stifling defense in their opener, while the Golden Grizzlies will need to find answers on both ends of the court after allowing 121 points in their first outing.

This game begins a challenging stretch for Oakland, which faces Houston and UCF on the road next week. Purdue will prepare for a high-profile road test of its own, traveling to face Alabama on Nov. 13.

Tipoff is set for Friday night.
