The Zips never trailed, building a 52-39 halftime lead and maintaining control throughout the second half. Danilo Jovanovich scored 21 points for the Panthers, who fell to 3-5. Evan Mahaffey added 15 points for Akron, which improved to 6-2. Tavari Johnson recorded a double-double for the Zips with 11 points and 11 assists.
