Moon Jeong-bin homers twice as LG sweeps Doosan 9‑3

SEOUL (Interstat) — The LG Twins blasted four solo home runs in the first inning and rode a dominant start from Lachlan Wells to defeat the Doosan Bears 9-3 on Sunday afternoon at Jamsil Stadium before 23,750 fans. The game was completed in eight innings.

Doosan took an early lead in the top of the first when Jung Soo-bin tripled to right-center and later scored on an error by third baseman after Yang Eui-ji grounded out. The 1-0 advantage lasted only moments.

LG answered immediately in the bottom half, with Song Chan-eui, Austin Dean, Park Dong-won and Moon Jeong-bin each homering to center field in succession. The four solo shots put the Twins ahead 4-1 and knocked Doosan starter Zach Logue from the game after just one inning.

Moon Jeong-bin delivered the decisive blow in the fifth inning. With Park Dong-won on base after a walk, Moon crushed a two-run homer to center field, extending the Twins’ lead to 6-1. It was his second home run of the day and capped a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs.

LG broke the game open further in the sixth. Shin Min-jae was hit by a pitch, stole second and advanced to third on a catcher’s error. After Song Chan-eui walked, Park Hae-min singled to right-center, driving in Shin. Austin Dean then reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Park Hae-min, and Song Chan-eui came home on an error to make it 9-1.

Doosan struggled to generate offense against a succession of LG relievers. The Bears managed 13 hits but stranded 10 runners and scored only in the first inning. Park Chan-ho, Yang Eui-ji, Ryu Seung-min and Oh Myeong-jin each had two hits for Doosan, but the team could not convert those opportunities into runs.

Wells earned the win, his fourth of the season against two losses. He worked five innings, allowing five hits and no earned runs while striking out five. He did not walk a batter. Woo Kang-hoon, Ham Deok-ju and Bae Jae-june each pitched a scoreless inning of relief to close out the game. Bae struck out three in the eighth.

Logue took the loss, falling to 3-5. He did not record an out in the first inning and was charged with four earned runs on four hits. Park Shin-zi provided effective relief for Doosan, throwing two scoreless innings with one hit allowed and one strikeout. Choi Ji-kang and Kim Jeong-woo each pitched a hitless inning.

The game marked the third consecutive victory for LG over Doosan in the weekend series, following a 4-2 win Saturday and a 3-2 win Friday. The Twins improved to 45-26-2, while the Bears dropped to 34-36-2.

LG next faces the Samsung Lions at home Tuesday, while Doosan travels to play the Hanwha Eagles.
