Stockton vs. San Diego
SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The San Diego Clippers used a dominant fourth-quarter surge to overcome a persistent Stockton Kings squad and secure a 120-112 victory in a G League contest Friday night at Frontwave Arena.
The game was a back-and-forth affair through three quarters, featuring 11 lead changes and neither team building a double-digit advantage. The Clippers entered the final period clinging to an 86-87 deficit but seized control with a 35-point fourth-quarter explosion, outscoring the Kings by 10 points down the stretch to pull away.
San Diego established an early tempo, leading 32-26 after a first quarter marked by activity from center Norchad Omier. The Nicaraguan big man was a force on both ends, contributing multiple tip-ins, rebounds, and assists to set the tone. Stockton, however, responded in the second quarter, outscoring San Diego 28-21 behind the playmaking of Jameer Nelson and Antoine Davis to take a narrow 54-53 lead into halftime.
The third quarter saw the Kings’ offense reach its peak, pouring in 33 points as Dexter Dennis and Jaylin Williams connected from deep. Despite this, the Clippers matched them with 32 points of their own, largely through the inside-out combination of Omier and Zach Freemantle, to stay within a single point.
The decisive shift came in the game’s final 12 minutes. With the score tight, the Clippers’ offense found another gear. A critical sequence saw TyTy Washington and Cam Reddish hit consecutive three-pointers, part of a larger offensive flurry that opened up the first comfortable lead of the night for the home team. Stockton’s offense, which had been efficient, cooled at the wrong time, managing only 25 points in the fourth as San Diego’s defense tightened.
The Clippers’ win was a product of balanced scoring and relentless effort on the glass, particularly from Omier, who repeatedly created second-chance opportunities. The victory improved San Diego’s season record to 27 wins and 22 losses. Stockton, which had won three of its last four games entering the night, fell to 31-17.
The most important part of the game was San Diego’s collective fourth-quarter response after trailing for much of the second half. Facing a deficit against one of the G League’s top teams, the Clippers elevated their play on both ends. They executed efficiently in the half-court, generated key stops, and controlled the rebounding battle to close the game on a 35-25 run. This clutch performance over the final period transformed a tight contest into a statement win, showcasing the depth and resilience of the San Diego roster.
The two teams will complete a back-to-back series at the same venue Saturday night.
